The University of Kitakyushu (北九州市立大学) penalized a staff for browsing adult websites on the university computer during work and printing images of the website out.
According to the university, this incident happened between 11th to 17th June. The penalized male staff member (in his 60s) browsed adult sites for 5 hours in total on the office computer at work and printed out 73 A4-sized images. A colleague next to him discovered the printouts and reported his act. Disciplinary action has been taken against this employee.
According to the investigation conducted by the university, the staff said, “I accidentally entered the adult site and closed it once, but I could not stop my eagerness to browse again.” and “I printed them out as deliverable.”
The University of Kitakyushu planned to introduce software that restricts browsing of unrelated sites to prevent the recurrence of this kind of incident.
