Studio Ghibli films are famous for their whimsical imagination of nature and life. Director Hayao Miyazaki often find real-life inspiration in Japan and other countries. However, one of its most famous location, has become the final resting place for one person. According to NNN news, an unknown dead body was discovered on May 30, in the forest in Tokorozawa of Saitama Prefecture, the inspiration place of the Totoro movie.

The forest in Tokorozawa of Saitama Prefecture, is known as “Totoro no Mori”, or “Totoro’s Forest”, where Miyazaki fell in love with when producing the movie My Neighbour Totoro. A local resident discovered a human corpse while he was feeding stray cats in the woods. According to the man, he found the skeleton about a week ago as he saw bones hidden under a pile of fallen leaves. Later when he realized the bones are not animal’s corspe, but a skeleton of human body, he reported to authorities. Following the report, authorities removed the body, and are now performing an autopsy to see if they can deceased’s identity and the cause of death.
