Shibuya Scramble Square building is being jointly developed by Tokyu Corporation, JR East, and Tokyo Metro, and grand opened on November 1, 2019. As one of the biggest Shibuya’s redevelopment projects, the second phase of this building is expected to be opened by 2027.
Complex Commercial and Office Space
The B2 (second basement level) to 14th-floors are occupied by over 200 retail shops and restaurants. Shops feature food, fashion, lifestyle goods, as well as cafes and restaurants. Seven of them open their first branch in Japan, while 45 of the first start their business in Tokyo.
From 2nd to 9th-floors, you can find all the brand cosmetic and fashion brands such as SK-II, YSL, TOMORROWLAND and Journal-Standard.
There are also a wide variety of accessories, home décor, books, groceries, and electronics stores on 10th, 11th and 14th-floor. One of the latest events, “NHK x Shibuya” 8K resolution display project, put a lifestyle-related show on screen for all visitors.
If all that shopping makes you hungry, do not worry. There are plenty of places to grab light bites and desserts from B2 to 1st floor, such as Mori Yoshida, Thierry Marx La Boulangerie and supermarket Food Show Edge. If you are looking for full meals, lots of international choices are available on 12th and 13th-floors.
The 15th floor is home to Shibuya QWS, an industry exchange facility that brings a diverse range of 200 people together to create new social value.
Shibuya Scramble Square has 73,000-sqm (785,000-sqft) of high-grade office space from the 17th to 45-floors, with a standard floor size of 2,900-sqm.
Shibuya Sky: 360-degree panoramic views
Besides from the regular commercial structure, the elevator that goes directly from 14th to 45th floor, and the observation deck on 46th and the rooftop of the building which allows you to get a bird’s eye view of the famous Shibuya scramble crossing intersection.
Shibuya has always been a hub for youth, diversity, technology and culture in Tokyo, but further growth in the district will help it become more recognized around the world. Shibuya Sky base on the concept of futurism and technology, to build this multipurpose landmark.
From 14th to 45th-floors, it is called the Sky Gate.
You will find an interesting area called the Sensing Hall before taking the elevator on the 14th-floor.
The astrophotography projection and music changes when the elevator is going to higher attitude.
When you reach 45th-floor, follow the light and escalator to the next floor.
The 46th floor known as the Sky Gallery, is an indoor lookout area (featuring cafes, bars, and souvenir shops) that combines artistic video installations with stereoscopic sounds.
It creates a unique view that allows visitors to get a sense of modern Shibuya.
The rooftop is known as the Sky Stage, an outdoor lookout deck that welcomes visitors to take in the views of Shibuya in the open air. The observation deck has an area of 2,500 square meters, making it one of the largest rooftop space in Japan.
